Don and his wife, Donna, share an intense love of nature and the outdoors, especially the magnificent vistas, quite walks and the soothing sounds they find outdoors -- punctuated, of course, by an occasional thunderclap or blast of frigid air. Don acquired his first camera while in elementary school, but his interest in photography soared while serving with the Navy in Hawaii. Off-duty time was spent exploring the islands, especially the mountains, while on-duty time included a healthy dose of official news photography. Reentering civilian life, Don obtained a degree in journalism and worked as a daily newspaper reporter-photographer. He later began a long career as a publications editor and public affairs manager for several large U.S. corporations. Since 2000, he and Donna, a retired instructor at a major state university, have concentrated on capturing images of some of nature's most awesome sights. |
